Welcome to Dads House
There are currently over 2 million non residential dads in the UK and over 200,000 raising their children alone.
In London alone there are 20,000 dads who are the main carers for their children.
We have seen a huge change in society and these figures are expected to rise dramatically in the next 5 years.
After raising his own son from an early age, William realised that there was very little support for fathers.
Although there was a number of organisations available to help parents, there was no support for the practicle side, no one to meet up with for a coffee and chat, people that would have an understanding on their struggles.
It was Billy's dream create a charity that could offer the support needed by single dads.
Since Dads House launched in 2008, our reputation has grown within many organisations, local authorities and the UK Government, who often contact Dads House to help with various topics.
In 2013 Dads House launched in Kent. Our 5 year plan going forward is to have Dads House branches accross th UK, enabling us to help and support as many single fathers as possible.
Celebrating Charities in Kensington & Chelsea
Sunday 6 December, 12 – 4pm at the Chelsea Town Hall
This event is open to all voluntary and community sector organisations in Kensington & Chelsea. Please contact us now if you would like to be involved.
What is it?
WinterFest 2009 is a high profile event that aims to showcase, promote and celebrate the work carried out by voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups throughout Kensington & Chelsea.
Why you should get involved?
Because WinterFest 2009 will:
v Offer a unique opportunity for you to promote the contribution your work adds to local life to an audience of local residents, media and local politicians;
v Provide free marketing, presentation and event management training, in the run up to the event, to help you improve your organisation’s public image;
v Offer your organisation the chance to feature in a booklet produced for visitors to take away. The booklet will include information on each participant organisation outlining what you do, what communities you reach, etc.
v Help you to recruit new volunteers and supporters for your cause;
v The chance to celebrate and beat the winter blues …..
… what’s more, all this will only cost some of your time!!!
What are we looking for?
We invite all not-for-profit voluntary and community organisations, who work with local communities in Kensington and Chelsea, to join this initiative.
Work alongside your colleagues to present your work and showcase your achievements through a variety of creative and interactive means; e.g. storytelling, visual displays, drama, singing, poetry, or any other way that reflect the rich diversity of our sector.
To help ensure all exhibition displays and activities are of a high standard we strongly recommend that participant organisations attend the three free training sessions planned to strengthen marketing, presentation and Public Relations (PR) skills.
Additional support will be given to smaller voluntary and community groups that do not have paid staff or the capacity to produce promotional materials such as posters, digital presentations, banners etc.
To register you interest in participating simply email us by clicking here.
We will be in touch with you at the end of September to discuss your participation.
Closing date for registrations: Wednesday 30 September 2009
